  CASIS: a space odyssey

Science and Research Center  //   New York City, NY  //  Fall 2012

Critic: Peter de Bretteville

As the proposed Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) headquarters, this building strives to encourage visitors to consider their relationship with outer space and the path toward space exploration.

A black box in the center of the building appears to hang as weightless and mysterious as the universe. It houses the destiny module which serves as both a visual attraction for visitors and experimental tool for researchers who have direct access from their laboratory.

A long circulation path from 1st St., to the entrance and from there, to the lecture hall, exhibition space and education facilities, takes visitors on a journey of exploration and enlightenment; a reflection of mankind’s long and exciting journey into the unknown.
