The transformation of a blank piece of fabric into a work of art using wax and dye is the definition of batik.

 

For 14 months, I traveled to study the different techniques of this art form and in each country, paint my own designs on cloth. The variety of patterns and designs that emerged are a reflection of the cultures and societies in which they were made.
