The American River Parkway was used as a case study for how ecology, urban planning, floodplain management, and conservation can work together to increase urban resilience and human well-being.
Launching this project in conjunction with the ESA annual meeting demonstrates to ecologists the importance of linking ecology to action in a rigorous and testable way, and the value of applying ecological science to urban ecosystems in an increasingly urbanized world.
